Braintree Native an Executive Producer on 'The Butler'
The film was screened last week in Boston in an event including the Kennedys.
Based on a true story, the film, starring Forrest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey, traces a man's journey from the cotton fields to serving in the white house. The Butler, Eugene Allen, named Cecil Gaines in the film works for several presidents from Dwight Eisenhower to Ronald Reagan.
Salloway had several screenings of the movie prior to its release, including one for President (George) Bush Sr. in Kennebunkport, ME and one for Patrick and Joseph Kennedy in Boston.
Salloway is a film producer as well as an attorney who resides in New York City. He worked in private equity in mergers and acquisitions for two firms and then went out on his own and started his own firm. He serves as an outside general counsel to a wide range of clients, directors, athletes and business executives.
He represented investors in film and broadway then got into the business side. He produced a play with Jerry Seinfeld, Long Story Short, starring Colin Quinn and in film was involved in the Ides of March with George Clooney and So Undercover with Miley Cyrus.
Salloway grew up in Braintree, attending Thayer Academy, Brandeis University and Penn Law School. He is the son of Josephine and Richard Salloway of Braintree. Although he has relocated to New York City he is still an avid Boston sports fan supporting the Red Sox, New England Patriots, Celtics and Boston Bruins.
