Braintree Police: Heroin and Syringes Found During OUI Stop

Two people from Arlington were arrested on charges of distributing heroin after Braintree police pulled over their vehicle for a suspected OUI Thursday evening.

When officer James Peters pulled over Ryan M. Shea, 34 of Arlington, on Pearl Street for straying outside his travel lane, Peters saw that Shea might be intoxicated and found an uncapped syringe and a spoon with what appeared to be heroin residue, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

Police also discovered more syringes, spoons containing heroin residue and seven bags of heroin in the purse of passenger Emily D. McDonald, 25 of Arlington, Jenkins said. Another heroin-loaded syringe was also found.

Both Shea and McDonald were charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substances Act and Shea was also charged with operating under the influence of drugs and failure to keep within marked lanes.
