A Look Inside Brookline's New Butcher Shop

The Meat House Opened Earlier This Month.

For the first time in years, Coolidge Corner now has its own butcher shop.

Tucked into an easy-to-miss storefront Beacon Street, the newly opened Meat House boasts several shelves of gourmet foods and sauces, three coolers of craft beer, two racks of wine and a long case of custom-cut and prepared meats. The company, which has locations in eight states, claims to be bringing back the lost concept of the neighborhood butcher.

In this case, however, the Meat House will be competing with two butcher shops just a few blocks down the street in JFK Crossing. Chris Hogan, the operating partner for the franchise group that runs the Coolidge Corner Meat House, took Brookline Patch on a tour of the store earlier this week and explained why he thinks they can compete.
