Venture Out: Plymouth, MA

The town of Plymouth has a lot more to offer than a plantation and a famous rock, but you might as well check those out, too

Just 60 minutes away from Brookline is the small, but significant, ocean-side town of Plymouth, MA.

If you've never seen Plymouth Rock, the landing place of the Pilgrims in 1620 well - you've got to see it at least once. Plymouth Colony was the first thriving colony of 1,000 Puritans who seem to still influence our state to this day - if not our entire country through the holiday of Thanksgiving.

Then there's  Plimouth Plantation, where you can immerse yourself right into the early days of Massachusetts settlers, with in-character famers, bakers, steel smiths - fun for kids and adults alike. Tickets start at $15 for children and $25 for adults.

And there's much more to Plymouth than its history. On Satudays, there's a famers' market in town, there's live music, and merchants come out of their shops for Sidewalk Saturdays.

If you're more into nature than shopping and commerce, then check out  Plymouth Outdoors, which is your guide to the natural beauty of the shore. With over 250 miles of trails, more than 350 lakes and ponds, and 30 miles of coastline, it should be easy for you to enjoy what Plymouth has to offer.
