Is Burlington Ranked Among the Safest Towns in Massachusetts?

A number of towns around Middlesex County have been listed among the "50 safest communities in Massachusetts."

Burlington, however, was not among them.

The  Safewise.com list, released last week, highlighted the low crime rates and other local programs of surrounding communities. Sudbury earned the top spot on the list.

Closest to Burlington on the list was Winchester, which came in at No. 28 and was described as "especially popular with professionals who have children, and it’s easy to understand why."

Winchester features a violent crimes per 1,000 residents rate of .55, with a property crimes per 1,000 rate of 9.27.

Also among the nearby towns ranked by Safewise.com was Reading at No. 19, Andover at No. 23 and Lynnfield at No. 26.
