Boston's Park Plaza Hotel Unveils $100M Worth of Upgrades
The iconic hotel underwent an overhaul of the main entrances, lobby, meeting spaces and mezzanine levels.

The Boston Park Plaza Hotel, located at 50 Park Plaza, recently completed $100 million worth of major renovations. And now the nearly 90-year-old hotel is proudly ready to unveil the first two parts of a three-phase overhaul to the public.
Beginning in December of 2014, the hotel finished the second of three renewal phases, completing a re-design of the main entrances, lobby, meeting spaces and mezzanine levels.

- Replacement of the hotel’s roof, exterior facade and sidewalk surrounds
- Creation of 5,500 square feet of prime retail space
- Installation of a state-of-the-art HVAC system
- The addition of STRIP by Strega, an all-new 5,700 square foot high-energy steakhouse concept by Boston-based restaurateur Nick Varano
- The addition of Off The Common, the Boston Park Plaza’s new restaurant and lounge
- Additional guest services include complimentary use of the brand new DavidBartonGym fitness center, FedEx Office Print & Ship Center, and 50,480 square-feet of exceptional meeting space
The hotel’s new lobby area “evokes a youthful, innovative and international vibe that complements the hotel’s iconic architectural elements.” It will feature a gray and white color scheme, floor-to-ceiling columns, new fooring, LED lighting and sleek check-in-stations.
The on-site office space has been relocated from the mezzanine level to the third floor. Park Plaza’s ballroom has undergone a stunning makeover, featuring restored crystal chandeliers.

The third phase of the renovation project is schedule to be completed by June of 2016. The phase will include renovations to guest rooms, suites, bathrooms corridors, and the replacement of all furniture, fixtures and equipment.
The Park Plaza hotel first opened its doors on March 10, 1927. Winston Churchill, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Katherine Hepburn and Judy Garland are among the noteworthy guests who have stayed at the hotel over the years.
