Do You Support the Olympics in Boston?

A group of business leaders and developers are exploring a bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Boston.

John F. Fish, chairman of Suffolk Construction, recently hosted a delegation from the U.S. Olympic Committee and they viewed potential Olympic sites. Some roadblocks for local supporters are the need to build an Olympic Stadium, Olympic village and aquatic center, as well as transportation limitations and financing,  reported The Boston Globe.

Supporters includes former Gov. Mitt Romney, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and outgoing Boston Police Commission Edward Davis.

“I’m sure some cities have benefited long-term from hosting the Olympic Games, but I don’t think that is the primary reason for doing so,” Romney told The Globe. “Hosting the Olympics is about serving the world and providing service to athletes and people from almost every country. If it’s seen as a chance for Boston to serve as America’s host to the world, that can be a fantastic experience.”
