Gaming Commission to Discuss Scope of Proposed Everett Casino Wednesday

Officials will speak with representatives of Wynn on Wednesday at the hearing.

Gaming Commission to Discuss Scope of Proposed Everett Casino Wednesday

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold a public hearing Wednesday to discuss questions to Wynn MA, LLCC regarding the proposed casino in Everett.

The casino, which would be located in Everett across the bridge from Charlestown's Sullivan Square, has caused  debate amongst Charlestown residents, with representatives of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission  deeming Las Vegas-based Wynn Resorts "suitable" to obtain a casino license in eastern Massachusetts. About 60 percent of the casino’s estimated traffic would come by way of Sullivan Square in Charlestown.

The focus of Wednesday's hearing will be to discuss details regarding the casino's scope and quality of the gaming area and amenities, as well as the integration of the casino into the surrounding community, according to MGC

No votes or decisions are expected to be made at the hearing, which is meant to pose as an informational session, through which officials hope to "gauge public sentiment."

The meeting will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25 at the Edward G. Connolly Center, 90 Chelsea St. in Everett. The agenda for the meeting, which can be found here, is as follows:
