Another Union Endorsement for Dolan

Concord Democrat Mara Dolan announced today that she has received a second endorsement from a teachers' union in her campaign for State Senate in the Third Middlesex District.

Another Union Endorsement for Dolan

The following announcement was provided by Mara Dolan's campaign for state senate.

Today Mara Dolan announced the endorsement of the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts, AFL-CIO in her campaign to succeed retiring Senator Susan Fargo for State Senate in the 3rd Middlesex District. AFT Massachusetts joins the Boston Teachers Union as the second teachers union to endorse her candidacy. Mara Dolan is the only candidate in the race to receive the endorsement of a teachers union. Dolan’s mother and father, and grandparents were all teachers who belonged to the teachers' unions

“A well-educated workforce drives our economy. Great public schools with great public school teachers help everyone succeed. I am very proud to have the endorsement of the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts, AFL-CIO.  They stand up for the working families who are the backbone of our economy.  We need to build schools kids love, where their natural curiosity and desire to succeed will be encouraged. Every child deserves a great public school, and as Massachusetts State Senator, I won’t stop working until we have that.”

Tom Gosnell, president of  the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts, AFL-CIO, said, “Mara Dolan is a strong supporter of quality education for all public school students. Her commitment to public service and progressive values set her apart from the other candidates in the 3rd Middlesex State Senate race.”

AFT Massachusetts represents more than 25,000 educators, including teachers, paraprofessionals, custodians, bus drivers, secretaries and other school-related personnel throughout the state’s public school system. Its members also include faculty and staff at colleges and universities in Massachusetts as well as health care professionals and municipal librarians.

Dolan has received the most labor union support in the race, with additional endorsements by the Mass Retirees Association, the Boston Teachers Union, the Pipefitters, and the Massachusetts Coalition of Police, AFL-CIO.
