5 Things To Know on Nov. 20: Find out the Local Unemployment Rate

Welcome to “5 Things,” your daily resource for community events, happenings in town and other little tidbits of information. Here are five things you need to know on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

1. Streak: By continually mentioning all of our great weather hopefully we are not jinxing us, but we’re happy to report that another spectacularly beautiful fall day is in store for Tuesday, with partly sunny skies forecasted along with temperatures into the low 50s.

2. Hurricane Sandy: If you want to help victims of Hurricane Sandy in and around the New York City area, head over Panera Bread at Liberty Tree Mall starting on Tuesday. The restaurant will be collecting cash for the victims through Dec. 2.

3. Unemployment: The state Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development will release town-by-town unemployment data for October on Tuesday. The office said that the statewide unemployment rate went from 6.5 percent in September to 6.6 percent in October, even though 7,600 jobs were added.

4. Holidays: There are so many events going on during the next few weeks – much of it holiday-related. And we want everyone to know about it all. The best way to get out the word is to use our events calendar. And it you are organizing or hosting an event open to the public? You can put it directly on the calendar yourself with just a few quick clicks.

5. Selectmen: The Danvers Board of Selectmen meets on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, where it hold a public hearing on the split between the residential and business tax rate and also discuss budget policy for fiscal 2014.
