Blue Ribbon BBQ Picks Dedham for Third Location

The Dedham Board of Selectmen approved a common victualler license for Blue Ribbon BBQ during their meeting Thursday night.

DEDHAM, MA — Another restaurant is coming to Dedham Square, this time with barbecue.

The Dedham Board of Selectmen approved a common victualler license for Blue Ribbon BBQ during their meeting Thursday night. The location is the restaurant’s third and first in 16 years.

Co-owner Ron Stoloff told the selectmen that he’s had his eye on Dedham for a while and the rise of the Dedham Square area helped him pick the town as the spot for the third location.

“A number of us have lived in the Needham-Newton area and we’ve always had one eye on Dedham as a possibility. In recent years, we’ve been excited by the uptick in interest and efforts to make Dedham a more comfortable place to do business and the environment for restaurants that’s outside the basic meat and potato thing is encouraging to us,” Stoloff said.

Unlike other barbecue restaurants in the area, Blue Ribbon BBQ will not serve alcohol. Stoloff said that’s because the owners made a decision that they would make their money from the quality of their food, not liquor.

The Dedham at 350 Washington Street will have enough room for seating. Stoloff said he expects to accommodate 50-60 seats, making it the first of the three to have a sit-down dining area.

Blue Ribbon BBQ is aiming for an April opening.
