Public Candlelight Service to Honor Dedham Seniors on Monday Night

Did you know that September is National Senior Center Month, and without Dedham having a senior center at present time, residents have banded together and are holding a Candlelight Ceremony to honor Dedham's seniors.

"Many months ago, a seed was planted to celebrate the seniors, and to make the town of Dedham aware that the seniors have a voice. This is our way of demonstrating that the seniors are alive, well and very active and to call attention to their needs and desires," said Annette Eddy, to Patch. "We want to congratulate the seniors, past and present, for all they have done for all their years of support to our town of Dedham."

Candles will be provided and all are welcome, whether you're a senior in high school or a senior citizen, anywhere in between, older and younger. The ceremony is being held on Monday, Sept. 30, on the lawn of the First Church of Dedham at 670 High St.

Eddy added the group wanted to thank Rev. Rali Weaver for allowing the use of the church lawn for this occasion.

"Please come and show your support of our seniors!" said Eddy.
