The Department of Public Works has been preparing for the storm since Monday.

Dedham's DPW Ready For Snow Storm This Weekend

According to The National Weather Service, they are expecting that we'll have heavy wet snow through the weekend.  But Dedham's Department of Public Works believes that they are more prepared due to the timing of the storm.

"We have been preparing for the storm since Monday," Joseph Flanagan, Director of Pubic Works said. "We prepare for all storms but there was more [preparation] because the timing of the storm."

The town increased its Snow & Ice budget by $200,000, according to the department. And they are expected to use a little more than $150,000 into this weekend.

"There are also other charges such as salt, sand, fuel, equipment, plowing, removal, etc...that are charged to the snow and ice budget," Flanagan said.

After the Blizzard of 2013 hit Dedham, a big concern was snow disposal. Patch asked Town Administrator Bill Keegan if that was still an issue.

"We have removed a lot of snow so there is capacity in and around the town in most cases to plow streets," Keegan said.  "However we are limited in the amount of space we have left to remove additional snow and store it somewhere else."

During the Blizzard of 2013 Dedham was hit with 22 inches of snow.  Dedham is expected to get around 6 to 10 inches over the weekend.
