Gastropub Set to Open in Dedham Square

Dedham, MA — A gastropub with a goal of serving restaurant quality food in a pub-like environment is coming to Dedham.

Oscar's is set to open at 380 Washington St. in Dedham Square. It is located in the same building as the Dedham House of Pizza and Cafe Bagel.

"What's envisioned here is a neighborhood gathering spot that Dedham will be proud of," Peter Zahka, the bar's attorney said during a recent hearing in front of the selectmen.

The establishment will be owned by Ann Francis, who is a 15-year resident of Dedham. Michael Tallon, who has experience owning and managing restaurants in Cambridge and Hyde Park, will be the manager of record.

In addition to the food, about 20-24 beers will be on tap. The restaurant expects 70 percent of their business to be food and the remaining 30 percent for alcohol.

Oscar's is hoping to open in late September or early October.
