Weekend Planner: Art, Spring Fair and Hypnotist

The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have are not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just don't cut it anymore, then don't worry, D-S Patch is here to assist you! Check out our list of suggestions of events to attend, places to go, sites to see – all within driving distance of home. 

1. 17th Annual Student-Faculty Art Exhibit at the Zullo Gallery

Where/When: 456A Main St., Medfield; Saturday April 14 and Sunday, April 15 from noon to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Zullo Gallery, in collaboration with the K-12 Visual Arts Faculty of the Medfield Public Schools, presents the 17th Annual Student-Faculty Art Exhibit. The exhibit features a display up to 60 pieces of selected art work from students in grades K-12 alongside the work from the Visual Arts Faculty.

2. Hypnotist & Comedian Fundraiser at Norwood High

Where/When: 245 Nichols St., Norwood; Friday, April 13, 7:00 p.m.

The Norwood Post Prom Committee will host their biggest fundraiser of the year when hypnotist and comedian Jim Spinnato hits the stage at Norwood High School. Be amazed as volunteers sing, dance and "sleep" on command.  Proceeds will benefit the 2012 Post Prom Party. This show is rated-H for Hilarious.

Pricing: Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.

3. Travel to China - From Preparation to Immersion

Where/When: 56 Dedham St., Dover; Saturday April 14, 1:30 to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Richard Ferland, a lifelong photographer and graduate of Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging Arts - CDIA, will share his experiences about living and traveling to China.

4. Spring Fling Vendor Showcase

Where/When: 470 Washington St, Norwood; Saturday, April 14, 10 a.m.

Why Go: 45 vendors showcasing a variety of hand crafted items, home decor, jewelry, children's items, furniture, even gifts for teens, and dad's! come see what all the madness is about. as always, parking and show entrance is always FREE.

5. Meet and Greet Book Signing with local author of "Then She Ran"

Where/When: ,150 Chapel St., Norwood; Sunday April 15, 11:30 a.m to 1 p.m.

Why Go: Local resident and author Bob Begin will sign copies of his true story "Then She Ran", a harrowing ordeal he and his wife endured when their teenage daughter ran away and was found alive 23 days later.  Bob co-wrote, with Robin Stratton, "Then She Ran" as a chronicle of their experiences with their daughter, who was diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder, and the intense search they organized for her safe return.  Begin hopes that the book and the website he also manages, When a Child is Missing ( whenachildismissing.weebly.com), helps provide the tools and hope for other parents of missing children.  The book will be available for purchase at the signing.  The book signing will take place in the back entrance of the church.

Pricing: Admission is free and open to the public.
