Easton Fire Department responded to the 3-alarm fire at a building owned by three auto body shops on Thursday night.

Easton Fire Department was notified of the fire through a burglar alarm and responders arrived to the scene around 7:20 p.m.

About 19 cars and materials inside of the building helped spread the fire, Partridge said.

Firefighters initially attempted an interior attack to the building. “The fire had progressed very quickly and the fire broke through the roof, so they went into a defensive attack,” Partridge said to Patch.

Firefighters were able flood the fire out and get it under control within two hours. Firefighters were on the scene until 2:30 a.m.

Partridge said the snow and ice contributed to narrow roads which made it difficult for apparatus positioning.

“Hydrants were shoveled out so that wasn’t an issue,” he said to Patch.

No firefighters were injured, but there were a lot of “slips and falls,” he said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Editor’s Note: The original dek said the fire took place early Friday morning. The fire actually took place Thursday afternoon. The proper corrections have been made.
