Falmouth Home Catches Fire On Locustfield Road

According to officials, the fire started at a gas meter and spread to the wood shingles on the first and second floor.

FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth firefighters extinguished a house fire on Locustfield Road Tuesday afternoon.

Fire officials were called to the home around 4:20 p.m. and found a natural gas fueled fire engulfed the outside of the building in flames. According to officials, the fire started at a gas meter and spread to the wood shingles on the first and second floor.

Some of the flames made it inside, but most of the fire remained at the exterior, fire officials said. The outside of the home sustained significant damage.

Fire officials said the fire was knocked down within a few minutes. Mashpee Fire and the Joint Base Cape Cod Fire Department provided station coverage while Mashpee firefighters extinguished the flames.

There were no reported injuries.
