Woman Saved from Burning Car in Cape Cod Crash

BOURNE, MA — Two Good Samaritans saved a woman's life in Bourne Sunday after police said they pulled her from a burning vehicle. At about 5 a.m., the 63-year-old Bourne was woman driving a Subaru Crosstrek when she crashed on Sandwich Road at the entrance to the Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School. The vehicle caught fire and the woman couldn't free herself from the wreckage, police said.

Two motorists driving by rushed out and pulled the woman from the burning vehicle "just as it became fully engulfed in flames," Bourne police said in a statement.

The woman was hospitalized but expected to be OK. She was charged with driving to endanger and failure to stay in marked lanes. Alcohol and speed "do not appear" to be factors, police said.
