Selectmen Give 10-Day Liquor License Suspension to Waxy O'Connor's
The establishment will serve a 10-day suspension with three days being a Friday or Saturday.

Waxy O’Connor’s will serve a 10-days suspension for serving alcohol to an underage minor, their fourth long suspension since 2010.
The selectmen voted Tuesday night 3-2 for the Main Street establishment to serve a 10-day suspension within 60 days with three days taking place on a Friday or Saturday.
Chairwoman Lorraine Brue and John Gray voted against the motion, with both selectmen looking for a seven-day suspension.

The violation is the second time since Sept. 2012 that the establishment was issued a violation for failing a police sting. The other two violations came in 2010 and 2011, when alcohol was served to intoxicated customers.
Referencing the Bill Murray movie where his character is forced to relive the same day over and over again, Selectman Jim DeVellis called the situation, “Groundhog Day,” going as far to recommend rescinding the license.

“I do agree they’ve come a long way, but I can’t do it any longer. It was a nice situation, it was a local pub and eating establishment but I’m done with it,” DeVellis said.
Gray said he voted for seven days because the situation was identical to Skipjack’s - a second violation for serving a minor involved in a police sting.
On Sept. 25, the Foxborough Police Department performed a liquor license compliance check. During the operation, a 19-year-old operative walked into Waxy O’Connors and ordered a beer. The operative was served without being asked for identification.
The bartender who served the beer was fired shortly after the sting for serving the minor.
