Hopkinton: Hit the Highway to Boston's Fire + Ice

Boston restaurant is family-friendly and cool for adults on a night out. Monday nights are all-you-can-eat for $9.95 with a college ID.

Hopkinton: Hit the Highway to Boston's Fire + Ice

Never been to Boston's Fire + Ice? Time to go.

Hop on 495, straight east on the Mass. Pike to the Prudential exit (inside the tunnel), follow the signs for Dartmouth Street, go straight ahead on Stuart Street, left at third set of lights, stop, you're there. 205 Berkeley St., Boston, MA 02116 617-482-FIRE (3473).

Why go? Everybody in your family will love Fire + Ice.

Diners personally pick the exact ingredients they want to eat.  Spoon or tong meat, fish, vegetables and pretty much anything you can think of onto a plate, bring those ingredients to a team of chefs at a huge grill in the center of the dining room, and watch them cook.

There are separate sections of the grill for vegans and vegetarians so everybody gets what they want. Kids like chicken? They get what they want. Food allergies? No problem. Tell the chefs. They'll grill what you choose on a fresh surface.

Try a tiny bit of everything. It's up to you.

It can't be any fresher and the cooking's the show.

If you go at prime kid time - watch out for Bruins, Celtics and in summer, Red Sox highway traffic - you'll probably be able to park right on the street. It's at the corner of Berkley and St. James streets and the area clears out after the workday and doesn't start to pick up again until a bit later.

Plenty of off-street garages too if you prefer.

Going on a date night or to a show without the kids? Fire +Ice has two levels and you can find the ambience you want.

Make reservations here. Price is less than $30 per person.

Easy to get back on the Pike to head home too. Ask the host or hostess.

Monday - Thursday: 4 - 10 p.m.
Friday - Saturday: 4- 11 p.m.
Sunday: 3- 10 p.m.

Monday - Saturday: 11:30 - 4 p.m.

Sunday Brunch

11- 3

I should have mentioned this. My kids only ate chicken fingers when they were little but I know some only eat hamburgers. McDonald's hamburgers. Your children can pick out the burger, the bun, the cheese the toppings - the exact patty and slice of cheese - and watch it be cooked.

You wouldn't want to do that at McDonald's. It's way too crowded behinbd that counter.
