No Creedence in Fogerty Visit

Rock and Roll Star Fimed Video at Holliston Historical Society Barn.

The barn is a great location for holding many types of functions.  In the past few months I have been there for a campaign kickoff, and a high school graduation party, and its use in conjunction with the main house for events such as weddings and “A Taste of Holliston” are well documented.

I approach this topic fresh on the heels of a superb Patch story on a commercial filmed at Holliston High School, and a current commercial featuring a Holliston native.  Refusing to turn my back on the almost limitless YouTube catalogue, I am reminded of another time when Holliston was thrust into the national spotlight.

I don’t know where I was that day in 1997 when the big vans and out-of-town visitors snuck into town.  They stopped at the Historical Society barn, and it was there that rock and roll legend John Fogerty recorded the video of “Blue Boy,”  a single from Blue Moon Swamp , a record that would earn him the 1997 Grammy for Best Rock and Roll Album.

Fogerty is no stranger to even the most casual rock and roll fan.  He was the creative monster and driving force of Creedence Clearwater Revival, one of America’s all-time top bands.  I believe the story at the time was that Fogerty was in the area and had a sister living in Sherborn and was looking for a rustic location to shoot the video.

The barn proved perfect, and the video is worth a look.
