Two Arrested After Theft of Safe, TVs

Two Roxbury men were arraigned on charges last week after they allegedly broke into a home on Williams Street and made away with a safe, money and two television sets, before the suspects crashed their car and fled on foot, according to a police report.

Travis Greer, 27, faces a felony charge of breaking and enterting a building in the daytime, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, possession with intent to distribute a class D substance (marijuana) and receiving stolen property over $250 and Jaquan Sims, 24, faces a felony charge of breaking and enterting a building in the daytime and receiving stolen property over $250, according to Renee Algarin, deputy press secretary for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Police were alerted to a breaking and entering in progress on Williams Street the morning of Dec. 4, and the first-arriving officer heard what sounded like a car crash, according to the report.

He then witnessed two males exit a green Volvo and began running. Officers arriving on the scene pursued the suspects on foot through Stedman Street.

Once both suspects were in custody, witnesses identified them and told police they saw one of the suspects carrying two televisions, discard a safe and then get into the vehicle which crashed, according to the report.

In all, the suspects were found to be in possession of the following items, which were returned to the owner: A Toshiba television, a Sharp television, two Skagen wristwatches, and iPod classic, and iPod Nano with case, an iPad and a safe. The following items were stolen and not recovered: A Seiko wristwatch, a Kenneth Cole wristwatch and an Indian Head gold colored ring, according to the report.
