He has lectured and performed widely in the U.S., Cuba and Europe, most recently at Teatro Binario 7 in Milan, Italy. In 2008, as a representative of the U.S., O’Hare Gibson competed for, and received, the Absolute Poetry Award in Monfalcone, Italy.

O’Hare Gibson and his work appear in "love jones,” a feature film based on events in his life. He has been featured on HBO’s “Def Poetry Jam,” various NPR programs, and was nominated for a Boston Emmy.

A recipient of both the Walker Scholarship for Poetry from the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center and a YMCA Writer’s Fellowship, his work has been published in Poetry Magazine, Harvard’s Divinity School Magazine and The Iowa Review, among others. He performs regularly with his literary music ensemble Neon JuJu. Widely acclaimed as a performance artist, the late writer Kurt Vonnegut said of O’Hare Gibson:

“When you perform, you are supersonic and in the stratosphere, where you can see that the Earth really is a ball, moist, blue-green. You sing and chant for all of us. Nobody gets left out."

O’Hare Gibson will appear at Munroe Saturday Nights with oud and guitar player Christopher T. Dotson.

Munroe Saturday Nights is a performing arts series for Lexington and the greater Boston community. Other events during this year’s season will feature international music, staged readings of original plays, and Victorian-era music.

Performances are free to the public with donations gratefully accepted. Seating is limited. All events are held at the Munroe Center for the Arts, 1403 Massachusetts Ave. Parking is available in the lot at the rear of the building or on the street.
