Lynnfield Fire Department Members To 'Climb For A Cause'

On Feb. 2, members of Lynnfield Fire Department will join hundreds of colleagues from elsewhere in the American Lung Association's Annual Stair Climb - in their fire gear - at One Boston Place.

Lynnfield Fire Department Members To 'Climb For A Cause'

The following was provided by the Lynnfield Fire Department:

The Lynnfield Fire Department believes that “No one should struggle to breathe”.  The American Lung Association each year hosts the Fight for Air Stair Climb.  This event not only raises funds but also raises awareness about various respiratory illnesses that plague our society.

Illness such as Asthma, Lung Cancer, Emphysema, and COPD to name a few impact many of us or those we know and love.

On February 2nd, members of the Lynnfield Fire Department along with hundreds of other area Firefighters are going to “Climb for a Cause”.  We will participate in the annual stair climb.

This stair climb is basically a vertical road race.  Instead of running for miles we will climb 41 floors, 82 flights, or 789 stairs to the top of One Boston Place, a skyscraper in Boston.

Doesn’t sound that challenging yet?  Now, wear approximately 60 lbs of fire gear and air pack and complete the task in minutes not hours.

After months of preparation the Lynnfield Fire Department has raised over $4,000 dollars to contribute to the cause.  Thanks to the Sheraton Colonial Hotel, who has so graciously allowed us to train in their 12 story building in Wakefield, MA we are ready to go.

Members participating include:

Team Captain Rich Ripley, Michael Feinberg, Joe Lamusta, Andrew Lyons, Darren Stead, Daniel Veinot, and Kate Walsh

Team Captain Glenn Davis, Ryan Batchelder, Frank Cammisa, Michael Coleman, Sean Dillon, Matt Nichols, and Mark Smallenberger

We would like to thank  Chief Lingel and Deputy Davis for their assistance along with  all the members  that have helped us raise funds and look forward to representing The Town of Lynnfield proudly at the event.
