RESULTS: State Rep., 33rd Middlesex District

Democrat Steven Ultrino defeated independent John Matheson Tuesday for the 33rd Middlesex District seat, which is being vacated by State Rep. Christopher Fallon, according to Ultrino’s campaign.

According to unofficial results, Ultrino received about 62 percent of the vote, Matheson 31 percent.

Fallon, a Democrat and 17-year incumbent, did not seek reelection after announcing that he will retire from politics at the end of his term.

The 33rd Middlesex District covers most of Malden. Ultrino is Malden’s Ward 2 City Councillor, Matheson Malden’s Ward 3 City Councillor.
