One Injured in Car Fire on Hope Street

The 70-year-old male was injured after driving into a boulder.

MANSFIELD, MA - Hope Street was briefly closed Tuesday night for a crash near Shields Street.

At about 6 p.m., a Honda Civic continue to go straight on a turn, struck a boulder, rolled over, and caught on fire according to the Sun Chronicle.

The driver of the vehicle, a 70-year-old male, had to be extracted with the jaws of life by firefighters. He was transported to Norwood Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The road was closed to allow fire and police crews to tend to the injured parties from the crash.

At around 7:30 p.m., the street was reopened.
