After the Boston Bruins exploded for 12 goals in less than two games on Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo, head coach Alain Vigneault opted to put in Marblehead native Cory Schneider, who looked solid between the pipes for the 15 minutes he was on the ice.
Schneider, who played for Marblehead High School in his freshman year and later started in the net at Boston College, recorded 9 saves over 15:45 and successfully stopped the bleeding for a passionless Canucks team that looked like they were more ready to head home for Game 5 than score on Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas.
Although Schneider's solid performance Wednesday night isn't expected to stir up a goalie controversy in Vancouver, it will likely mean that Vigneault will be quicker to pull the trigger when it comes to pulling the struggling Luongo in Game 5.
How do you think Schneider played in Game 4? Were you rooting for him to succeed or were you too caught up in the two-game turnaround of the Boston Bruins to care much about Schneider's success? Let us know in the comments section.
