Here are five interesting or important things to know today.

1. Marlborough has received a $15,595 federal grant to help the police department purchase bulletproof vests for 65 police officers.

2. The Marlborough Fire Department has received a $5,786 state grant for public education programs, including for students and senior citizens.

3. The Board of Health will host a Shingles vaccine clinic from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Walker Building, 255 Main St., Room 109. The clinic is for all seniors, aged 60 and older, who do not have health insurance or whose health insurance doesn't cover the Shingles vaccine. For questions, call the Board of Health at (508) 460-3752.

4. Reminder: Wednesday is an early release day for Marlborough Public Schools.
