LETTER: Matthew Jones Concedes Marlborough Mayoral Race

Jones thanks community for support.

LETTER: Matthew Jones Concedes Marlborough Mayoral Race

Dear Friends,

I want to thank all of the voters of Marlborough who came to the polls yesterday under less than ideal conditions. I was pleased to hear that nearly everyone has had their power restored. I also want to give special thanks to my wife, children, parents, in-laws, and all of the people who have helped my campaign.

This morning I spoke with the best election-law attorney in the Commonwealth.  He confirmed my gut instinct that a re-count would prove fruitless given our deficit of 42 votes. Having confirmed this, I met with my opponent, Arthur Vigeant, and conceded his victory in the election. This was the right decision for the City, and I have no regrets. I congratulate Mr. Vigeant and wish him the best of luck as Marlborough’s next mayor.

From the first day of this race, we have focused on our vision for the future of Marlborough: world class schools, safe neighborhoods, bringing businesses to Marlborough to create jobs, and improving services for seniors. While campaigning, I knocked on hundreds and hundreds of doors and truly enjoyed meeting the voters of Marlborough. Thanks to the hard work of my supporters, we accomplished more than I ever imagined possible. I urge you to hold your heads high and be proud of everything we have achieved. Moving forward, I will continue to advocate for the issues raised in this campaign: working for Marlborough’s future.

Sincerely,

Matthew Jones
