Sunny Memorial Day Predicted for the Vineyard

You'll still need a sweater, but the showers that have dampened our holiday weekend are on their way out of here: The National Weather Service predicts a sunny Memorial Day for Martha's Vineyard with a high of 62 degrees.

Sunny Memorial Day Predicted for the Vineyard

It will not rain on our Memorial Day parade, according to the National Weather Service.

After a Sunday of isolated showers, NWS forecasters say skies will clear overnight and Monday will be sunny and cool, reaching a high of 62 degrees on Martha's Vineyard.

Memorial Day observances on the Vineyard:

The  takes place Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Martha's Vineyard Film Center,  79 Beach Rd, Vineyard Haven, with guitarist and singer/songwriter Jonathan Auerbach, vocalist Carole Charlin and Alejandro Carreno on percussion. Tickets are $10 to benefit Dukes County Veteran's Services.

Monday's  Memorial Day parade in Vineyard Haven begins at 10 a.m. at the American Legion parking lot and leads to Oak Grove Cemetery, according to the Vineyard Gazette.

Volunteers are needed to help place flags at veterans' graves in the cemetery at 7:30 a.m. and take them down at 3 p.m., according to the MV Times.

The parade is followed at noon by a community Memorial Day Picnic at Tashmoo Waterworks.
