West Tisbury Library Moving to Middletown Village

New location will open on Monday, Oct. 15. The last day in the current location is Saturday, October 13.

West Tisbury Library Moving to Middletown Village

For years now we’ve been talking about it, hearing about it, perhaps even voting for it and planning for it and finally, the time has come that the West Tisbury Library closes its doors in preparation for the renovation that has been a long time coming.

One of the biggest concerns of the library’s many patrons is where they will go while the two-year construction takes place. There was speculation about the Grange Hall and talk of trailers and finally an announcement that the library’s temporary home will be in Middletown Village, across from Conroy’s Apothecary in North Tisbury.

The library’s temporary location—a small, cozy space- will offer new materials: adult, children, and young adult books, and a collection of DVDs. There will be WiFi and laptops, passport applications, printing, copying, and faxing available for public use.  Inter-library loan will be available and they can and will obtain books you need.

While the majority of their materials will be stored at other institutions (schools, libraries, and non-profit groups) and in storage units at the airport and will not be accessible until they re-open in their new space, the library hopes all will bear with them as the beloved library is transformed and expanded.

Theand staff will remain the same. All books and dvds should be returned to the Middletown Village location after October 15th.
