What Do You Really Want for Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day is Thursday, Feb. 14.

What Do You Really Want for Valentine's Day? What Do You Really Want for Valentine's Day? What Do You Really Want for Valentine's Day?

It's that time of year again: Valentine's Day.

Some people look forward to it, some people dread it, some people aren't quite sure what to do about it, and that's where we come in.

Patch is here to help you make the most out of February 14th.

First, do you know what you're getting your significant other, if anything? Do you know what he or she wants? Do you have any idea, or are you guessing?

While flowers are usually appreciated, they are not always preferred. Some folks prefer jewelry, sweets (maybe a vase filled with her favorite candy), gift certificates, a nice bottle of wine, or just a quiet night in.

But some people prefer a more practical gift like clothes (maybe something in red or pink), a helpful household item, or even a car wash or oil change (one less thing they have to do).

Frankly, many Valentine's-in-waiting will appreciate a greeting card that you took the time to select (though adding chocolate or a bouquet of flowers couldn't hurt).

Warning: Do not wait to buy the card until Feb. 14 as you're rushing home -- you will both be disappointed.

And, on the very off chance that you forget Valentine's Day (despite this story), and are running around the house wondering how you're going to get yourself out of this one, remember: A few kind words of appreciation, coupled with a favorite shared memory, can go a long way (but, really, try not to forget).

So, that's giving; what about receiving?

Have you told your significant other what you might like for Valentine's Day? Have you dropped well-placed hints or straight-out told him/her? Sometimes you just have to spell it out and you can do that right here.

TELL US in the comment section below (a) what would you like for Valentine's Day, (b) what will you give for Valentine's Day, or (c) what was the best Valentine's Day gift you ever gave or received?
