February 20th, 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of the Rhode Island nightclub fire that claimed the lives of 100 people, including a Melrose man, according to the Boston Globe.
Jeffrey W. Martin, 33, a Stoneham native, was the only Melrosian that perished during the blaze, according to the Globe. Martin was a former employee of Fidelity Investments and a lawyer with John Hancock Insurance Co., according to a victim profile published by the Globe.
"He studied hard, worked hard, and played hard," said his mother, Suzanne Fox of Carson City, Nev., in the profile. "He was a go-getter."
Martin was one of 100 people killed during the Feb. 20, 2003 fire at The Station in West Warwick, R.I. The fire, which spread throughout the venue in several minutes and led to more than 200 people being injured, was caused by pyrotechnics set off during a Great White concert
Martin's complete profile can be viewed on the Boston Globe website.
