A Winter Storm of 'Significant Impact'

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a winter storm watch.

A Winter Storm of 'Significant Impact'

A two-day storm that started arriving Wednesday morning, with rain, may produce 4 to 8 inches of snow for Worcester County, according to the National Weather Service.

The large storm moved east from the Midwest, and was expected to hamper travel in the Mid Atlantic states before heading up to New England.

The storm will bring potential for heavy, wet snow and strong winds Thursday into Friday, according to the National Weather Service bulletin. "This storm will have a significant impact on Southern New England," the service stated.

Eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire and all of Rhode Island will be affected. Snowfall amounts are still uncertain, but several meteorologists have said Worcester County, with its hills, could get at least 8 inches of snow.

The National Weather Service is projecting 4 to 8 inches for the region, with snowfall becoming heavy on Thursday morning, before tapering off Friday morning.

Travel is expected to become difficult, especially late Thursday into Friday morning. Strong winds may result in power outages.
