Police Log: Unwanted Sleeper, Intoxicated Shoplifter

The following information was supplied by the Milford police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Police Log: Unwanted Sleeper, Intoxicated Shoplifter

According to the overnight dispatch log, officers responded to a report of a man sleeping on a couch in a lobby of a contractor's building, and received a report from a school bus driver that another driver had been on the wrong side of Pearl Street while she had kids on the bus.

Wednesday, Jan. 4

5:58 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a two-car crash on Fortune Boulevard. A caller said one of the drivers smelled like alcohol. Police determined the smell was antifreeze, not alcohol. No injuries were reported.

7:17 p.m.: An older model car was observed speeding up, then slowing down, then the driver stomped on the brakes and pulled up next to the caller, "and threw an object out of the window that may have been on fire." The incident was reported on Fortune Boulevard.

8:19 p.m.: A caller asked to speak to police about the possible theft of keys from

9:50 p.m.: A one-car crash was reported on Prospect at Main streets. No injuries were reported, but a citation was issued.

Thursday, Jan. 5

7:57 a.m.: An officer was speaking to someone described as "suspicious" on Walnut Street.

9:39 a.m.: A school bus driver reported seeing a black Chevrolet driving on the wrong side of Pearl Street while she was driving the bus with kids on it, earlier that morning. Police spoke to the car's driver.

9:58 a.m.: An intoxicated shoplifter was reported at

11:37 a.m.: Police received a report of a small child left home unattended on Pearl Street. An officer responded and found both parents were at home.

3:04 p.m.: A fully engulfed fire was reported at the entrace to Rosenfeld Concrete, which is in Hopedale. That fire department responded.

3:39 p.m.: A caller reported that a man with white hair and goatee was sleeping on the couch of the building, on the second floor. The man was removed.
