What does it mean for a system of justice when lawyers are handling hundreds of cases at the same time?
That’s what Dawn Porter, a lawyer turned filmmaker, wanted to find out. Porter will be present for the screening of her film Gideon’s Army followed by a question and answer session as part of “The Social Justice Series,” to be held on Friday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Keith Auditorium on Curry College’s Milton campus at 1071 Blue Hill Avenue.
Gideon’s Armypremiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and aired on HBO Documentary Films last July. The film follows three young public defenders in the Deep South during their daily mission to counsel hundreds of defendants through the strained criminal justice system.
The event is free and open to the public.
