Town Meetings

There will be three town meetings to kick off the first full week of 2014. The Board of Appeals will meet on Tuesday, January 7, 7 p.m., in the Blute Conference; the Milton School Committee will convene on Wednesday, January 8, 7 p.m., in the Milton High School Library; and the Planning Board will meet on Thursday, January 9, 6:30 p.m., in the Cronin Conference Room.


Missing Milton Dog Found

Many Milton residents have chipped in and cheered on finding Layla, a small, black lab mix that went missing on November 16, at the Blue Hill Reservation near Great Blue Hill. After seven weeks on her own, Layla was found by her owner in a yard she was seen frequenting. Read the full heartwarming story on Milton Patch.


Library Happenings

The Milton Library is offering many exciting and interesting FREE events this week for the entire family. Examples include, Teen Book Club, Baby Rhyme Time, a Photography Art Reception, Book Talk on the Brinks Job, and many more. For a complete list and descriptions, visit the Milton Library website.


Register for Kindergarten

Register your child for kindergarten for the Fall 2014/2015 season. Your child must be five years old on or before August 31, 2014 to start kindergarten in September. To register, visit the Milton Public Schools website and sign up before January 17.


Milton Christmas Tree Collection

Milton residents may be anxious to dispose of their Christmas Trees, but they will have to wait until next week. The Town of Milton will be collecting trees by curbside collection the week of January 13-17, at the regularly scheduled pick up day. All trees and wreaths must be free of ornaments, tinsel, wire, stands and plastic bags.


Pierce Middle School Receives State Grant

Congratulations to the staff, faculty and students of the Pierce Middle School on being awarded a Professional Practice Innovation Grant from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Pierce was one of six schools chosen out of sixty statewide to receive funding.

The grant was funded through money provided by the federal Race to the Top program. The grant will support the Educator Evaluation System and the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. To read the full story, visit Milton Patch.
