New Latin Program Available to Milton Elementary Students

A 10-week after school program will introduce elementary students to the Latin language.

New Latin Program Available to Milton Elementary Students

Milton elementary school students will have a unique opportunity to learn Latin in a new after school program presented at the Milton Public Schools and Milton Community Schools.

The program, which is open to children in grades one through five, will begin February 7, and run for 10 weeks from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. at Colicot/Cunningham.

Matthew Webb, a Milton resident and Milton High School Latin teacher, will lead the program, teaching students Latin words for animals, colors, greetings, parts of the body, family members, action verbs and more. Students will also be taught how to use their Latin skills to decipher difficult English words.

According to the announcement from Webb, “This is not your grandmother's boring Latin class. We'll use new approaches to Latin learning, like speaking and listening, telling stories, pictures and drawing, actions, games, skits and hands-on activities”

Click here to view the PDF flyer to learn more about the program.

Curriculum questions can be referred to Matthew Webb at mwebb@miltonps.org.

The program is $80 per student. Email Pam Dorsey at pdorsey@miltonps.org to register. The deadline to register for the new Latin program is Thursday, January 31.
