Participants will have a chance to check out and drive electric and hybrid cars from local dealers that include Volkswagen, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, Ford and many more as Natick Farmers Market takes part in National Drive Electric Week on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Local electric car enthusiasts will also showcase their own cars, and participants can expect to see a range of vehicles, from Teslas to Zero Motorcycles, parked around the Common, said the announcement.

The event is organized by the Sierra Club and its purpose is so residents can chat about the benefits, costs, charging and other issues surrounding electric cars. Current electric car owners will also be on hand to answer questions.

“Electric vehicles include some of the latest automotive technology out there, and the state and federal rebates currently available can make these cars a very viable option,” said Philippa Biggers, Sierra Club volunteer and the event’s co-organizer, in a statement. “I hope residents attend the event and consider the economic and environmental benefits of going electric.”
