UPDATE: Tour Bus Fire Extends to Brush in Newton, Pike Backed Up

Two lanes are closed on the Mass. Pike in Newton while crews respond to a bus fire.

Update: Northeast Fire Alert reported that companies have a well-involved fire on a tour bus and it has extended to the brush on the Mass. Pike eastbound at MM124. The heavy fire has been knocked down, and EMS is evaluating passengers.

Update: At 5:20 p.m., Newton Fire reported that that the fire was knocked down, and the incident is a second alarm for water supply concerns, and also to “assist and triage the occupants of the bus.”

Original post: A bus caught fire on the eastbound side of the Mass. Turnpike near the Weston toll on Monday, NECN reported.

Crews responded around 6 p.m. to reports that a Bolt Bus was on fire near the Weston toll in Newton. No injuries have been reported and two lanes of the highway are closed, said NECN. Newton Fire also confirmed that crews were on the scene with a full-involved bus fire east of the Weston tolls.
