While most top college basketball stars are netting 20 points or more each game, one local college athelete managed to double that number -- and then some -- at a recent game.
Earlier this month, Lasell College mens basetball guard Sean Bertanza sank 55 points during one game against St. Joseph's College.
According to a press release issed by Lasell, Bertanza's 55 points is the highest single-game scoring for any player in all of NCAA basketball for the 2010-2011 season. Check out video of Bertanza's accomplishment in our photos/video section to the right.
Not only did Bertanza break Lasell's single-game scoring and field goal record, he also scored a three-point shot at the last minute to foce the game into overtime, the press release said.
The sophomore's impressive feat made up 60 percent of the team's total score for the evening. Nevertheless, the Lasell Lasers lost the contest to St. Joseph's College 92-96.
Lasell competes in the Div. 3 Great Northeast Atlantic Conference.
