Quicker Link to South Station Could be in Newton's Future
MBTA officials released a vision for rail services in 10 years time and it includes an express route from from Riverside to South Station.

Dubbed the Indigo Line, the line would follow the Worcester/Framingham Commuter Rail line until Auburndale, before heading directly to Riverside Station, according to a map entitled "Vision for the MBTA in 2024." It was released as part of the MTBA's Capital Investment Plan.

Instead of taking the D Line from Riverside, riders could take diesel multiple unit train through Auburndale, West Newton, Newtonville, Allston and Brighton, the Back Bay and ending in South Station, according to a post on Village14.com.
