Northborough Police Bust Two on Prostitution Charges

A couple from Providence, RI, was arrested on April 24, on charges related to prostitution after an investigation by Northborough Police, according to a press statement.

Hope Matta, 18, and Luis Marrero, 25, were arrested at the Econo Lodge Inn on Southwest Cutoff. Matta was charged with one count of sexual conduct for a fee while Marrero was charged with deriving support from a prostitute.

According to police, investigators saw a woman offering her services in an advertisement on the Backpage.com website. The detective reached out to the woman, later identified as Matta, at the phone number provided and was reportedly directed to her motel room at the Econo Lodge where she was later arrested.

Marrero was located later in the hotel room allegedly “hiding in the bathroom,” according to police, and was also arrested.

Both will be arraigned in Westborough District Court.
