Express Care centers and Minute Clinics are popping up all around but the recently-opened Urgent Care Center at Dedham Medical Associates has some extra benefits. The Center is located at the new state-of-the-art Norwood location at 1177 Providence Highway, First Floor. Its affiliation with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center provides emergency trained and board certified physicians to see all patients with support staff from BIDMC as well. Lab, x-ray and other ancillary services that could be required are available at the same location through Dedham Medical Associates. Finally, for DMA, BIDMC and any Atrius Health patients, full medical records can be easily accessed by Urgent Care staff to enhance treatment. While this is a great benefit for those patients, the Dedham Medical Urgent Care Center is open to anyone whether already affiliated with those groups or not.
“Urgent Care is intended to shorten waiting time and be more cost-effective than ER visits for episodic care, for conditions that are not life threatening but need urgent or after hours attention and tend to be limited to that medical episode or injury. We want patients to continue to receive their coordinated care through their primary care physician and we are happy to suggest one for follow up if they do not already have one. It is important to note also that Urgent Care is not a replacement for the emergency room which has capabilities to treat even the most complex and life threatening emergencies,” said Roberta Zysman, CEO of Dedham Medical Associates. “While it is difficult for an ill patient to always know which choice is best, visiting our website, www.DedhamMedical.com/urgentcareoffers some guidelines, and if unsure, please go to the Dedham Medical Associates Urgent Care Center for a determination.”
She continued, “The opening of our Urgent Care Center has been very well received. We were hearing from our patients and the public generally that there was a need for this type of service, and we are here to meet the needs of the people in our community. For more than 76 years Dedham Medical has been providing exceptional healthcare to this community and is recognized as one of the leading multispecialty care practices in Eastern Massachusetts. This, along with the respected reputation of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center combines to best serve our region. Dedham Medical Associates continues to grow and add services. We and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center are especially pleased to be able to offer this Urgent Care service to the public.”
Urgent Care hours are M-F noon-10 pm and Sat, Sun & some holidays 8 am - 6 pm.
