Peabody Police arrested Gregory Hardin, 50, of Danvers and charged him with unarmed robbery.

Arrest Made in Endicott Street Assault and Purse Snatching

Peabody police have made an arrest in an assault and purse snatching that took place on Endicott Street around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Peabody Detective Michael Crane said the 22-year-old woman called police, reporting she had been walking along the street when she was accosted by a tall, dark-skinned man wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt.

She said she fell to the ground at one point and dropped her purse, which the thief grabbed. The male then fled on foot down the street.

Crane said the woman did not report any injuries and no weapon was shown during the robbery. A state police K-9 unit assisted in a search for the suspect, but was unable to pick up his trail.

Police Officer James Christman continued to work the case and identified a suspect. About 10:30 a.m. Thursday on Central Street, Officer Javier Sánchez arrested Gregory Hardin, 50, of 18 MacArthur Boulevard in Danvers. He is charged with unarmed robbery.
