Making A Difference in Peabody
MADIP will still focus on and grow the core human services such as providing oil, electricity, food, clothing, housing aid, emergency disaster relief, and other emergency services to Peabody residents. But their scope will be expanded to include an outreach center called the self economic development office which will provide unemployment resources, a welfare to work program, and a money management program. This office will be staffed by the Department of Workforce Development, NSCC, Metro Credit Union, and other partners who will help our clients become financially self sufficient. So now when we assist someone with oil who is receiving unemployment benefits, we can provide them with the oil but also refer them to this office. There are numerous workshops that these partners will have.
MADIP created an innovation center for new nonprofits, entrepreneurs, or part timers who wish to transition into their own business. Individuals can rent a workstation for $150.00 a month and have access to all ammenities in the building. MADIP will provide program services and workshops to help entrepreneurs start, grow, and become sustainable operations.
MADIP also has office space available for new or established businesses $300-350 per month on a month to month contract. The fee includes wifi access, fax, networked copier/scanner/printers, large conference room with smart tv, newly painted throughout, new bathroom fixtures, new carpet and blinds, new windows in the atrium to be installed, central a/c, new security system, complimentary coffee and water, a kitchen with table and chairs, microwave and refrigerator, and an open friendly commerce environment with lots of networking opportunities.
