Peabody resident Mark Papamechail was indicted on Monday for raping a woman he met on a dating website.
The Salem News reported that a grand jury handed up indictments for three counts of rape (subsequent offense) and being a habitual offender. Papamechail was also convicted on rape charges in 1987 and 1991, reported the Salem News.
Papamechail, Level 2 sex offender, met the latest victim on the dating website Plenty of Fish. The Stevens Street resident talked to the woman for two months and they met for a lunch date at a Peabody restaurant.
They went back to his house to watch a movie when he allegedly grabbed her by the hair, threw her onto a bed and raped her. After the alleged rape, Papamechail reportedly asked the victim if he could see her again.
Papamechail turned himself in on March 12 after police issued a warrant for his arrest.
Papamechail’s case now moves from Peabody District Court to Salem Superior Court.
