How Should I Dispose of My Clementine Crates?

This week's You Ask...Patch Answers column is focused on how to dispose of those little crates that hold your clementines.

How Should I Dispose of My Clementine Crates?

Each week, we set out to answer question submitted by one of our readers as part of our You Ask...Patch Answers column.

This week's question came from our very own Associate Regional Editor Chris Helms, who recently moved to Salem and has been having some trouble getting rid of a pesky clementine crate.

He asked: For two weeks running I've tried to get the city to pick up this orange crate. One week in recycling, the next in trash. It was left behind both times. I also saw another orange crate on my street that was not picked up. Does the city not pick these up?

According to the City's of Salem's Office of Engineering representative Cheryl Cripps, clementine crates like the one pictured above are not recyclable and should be disposed of in the "solid trash."

North Side Carting confirmed that the crates were non-recyclable a couple months ago, she said.

Have you had trouble with getting rid of certain household products? Is there something you think you may be disposing of improperly?
