Downtown Car Fire Quickly Exinguished
Flames engulfed the hood of a car near Starbucks on Wednesday night.

A car fire was quickly extinguished in downtown Salem near the Starbucks on Washington Street on Wednesday evening.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police and fire crews arrived on the scene and saw the front hood of a car engulfed in flames.
The car’s driver was on the side of the road and said she was driving when she began to smell smoke and then the hood burst into flames, according to police.

The women was able to get out of the car without injury or incident, and the fire department extinguished the fire and contained it to the hood.
The fire department determined that the fire wasn’t suspicious and was caused by an electrical issue.
