Woman Allegedly Forced Into Salem Bank of America

A Marblehead man is facing assault and kidnapping charges after allegedly forcing a woman to go to the Bank of America on Paradise Road to take out money Tuesday afternoon.

Ernest Choguryan, 30, of 1 Hammond Place, Marblehead, was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon (knife), kidnapping and attempting to commit a crime, according to this morning's log post.

At 4:07 p.m., Salem police officers responded to the Paradise Road bank after a woman reportedly told a teller to call for help.

Salem police Lt. Steve Bona said Choguryan is accused of "making (the alleged victim) go to the bank with him." The weapon used in the alleged assault, he said, was a knife.

The Eagle Tribune is reporting that Choguryan was ordered held without bail Wednesday at his arraignment in Salem District Court.

Salem Patch will be posting additional information as it becomes available.
